This place basically is shallow and boring,I only go there when my motorcycle is getting worked on across the street. My 6 year old granddaughter could whip something better than what this place serves, get what you pay for but when hungry eat what is in the hood. I had a tasteless Mexican skillet that was sure pretty and had no taste-come on guys get your menu adjusted,be creative and business will improve.BORING,BORING....

This place is awesome! Small and inconspicuous which I love. In fact it's one of 2 of my favorite lunch spots in the tech center. Their salsa is so yummy, has a nice amount of kick to it. I ordered the chicken tacos and while they came with a very large amount of cheese and lettuce the actual chicken stole the show. It was so good, had a nice amount of spice to it and was possibly in their green chili? I'm not sure what the sauce was but it rocked my lunch. I need to come back and try more because this place is seriously good. And seriously inexpensive. The staff was attentive and very sweet. My father in law is a regular here and they don't even have to ask him what he wants. You have to love a place like that!

Unassuming little place next to the post office. Looks like a place where people around here go to lunch. In fact i don't think it's even open for dinner. The food is edible but there's nothing remarkable about it.

It was our first time here. The server was very nice and helpful. My husband ordered the street tacos and I ordered combo #1. Te portions were huge. The food was awesome and well seasoned. Will come back again! Thank you yelpers for your reviews :D

This used to be a great hole in the wall. We've been eating there for breakfast and an occasional lunch for years. The environment was friendly, the service fast, the portions large, the prices small and the food great. We went there yesterday for breakfast. The good news...the booths are all reupholstered, the tile floor is new and the wall nick-knacks are replaced with new colorful art. The service remains excellent. The bad news...the breakfast burrito (one of their signature dishes) was more potato than egg and the green chilli was pasty and tasteless and seemingly absent of any green chillies. While I appreciate the new decor and the service was still very good, the one meal we tried was generic. They have lost the recipe that made them great. We were surmising a change of owners? We'll try again in a few weeks and see if this was just a bad day for the cook. I hope so.

Used to love this place. Cheap food, quick service and awesomely cheesy decor. They've upgraded their decor, but food quality has gone down. Their green chili tastes like it came from a can. I really hope they get back to basics.

Food good but service is bad. Waitress had an attitude and when I asked for another bowl of salsa she said she would have to charge me...after I had already paid for lunch. I was going here 2-3 times per week but now will find a new place. Its a shame.

This yummy little Mexican food restaurant is hidden away but you'll be so glad when you find it! I was just introduced to it Friday for lunch with a couple of friends. They recommended having breakfast and so we each had a huge breakfast burrito smothered in wonderful green chili sauce! Although there were three of us at the table they only brought one quite small basket of chips. When we asked for more we were then quite surprised when we got our bill because we were charged for the second basket! I also asked twice for lemon for my water which never arrived. But the food....very good!!

We couldn't shake our cravings for Amigos so we went back for more! What a delicious calorie-fest :-D. I had an incredible combo and they even allowed me to make substitutions. WOW. The servings are seriously enormous. As an example, one of my teens ordered the burrito plate which was comprised of three smothered burritos. Well, each burrito was about the size of a grande/ enormous burrito at any other joint. Yet this place gives you three of these bad boys on one platter. (I was surprised they could fit all this food on one plate!) My big eaters were thrilled to say the least!!! We ate and ate but could not finish this veritable smorgasbord! This place is really growing on me. If you love messy burritos and cheese and richly flavored carne avodava, you will absolutely adore this place!!! I expect we may become regulars around here. :-)

Great service and good food. Little hole in the wall in the Tech Center. This is my last meal in Denver as I'm moving back to Atlanta. Definitely don't regret stopping in at Amigo's.

Great food! Friendly staff and quick service! Chicken burrito for $5 and all burritos smothered in fantastic green chili! Big portions and go somewhere else if you want atmosphere. Great hole in the wall place. A hidden gem! This place has been here for 17 years and is family owned.

Nothing like starting your day with a smothered breakfast burrito. Hearty, cheesy, gooey, deliciousness...and once you've devoured it in it's entirety you suddenly realize you need a nap but you're screwed because you have to waddle your way back to work. But wasn't it worth it? I'd say so...

I love this place, I would come here every night if I could. The food is reasonable, my only gripe is that they're not open on Saturday nights, but that's okay because they are open on Friday! Everything I have had here has been anazing. Come, Eat, Be merry!

Hellafied Gut Bomb. Seriously...be warned, anything smothered (which is like 3/4 of the menu) is smothered with mad amounts of cheese/mediocre green chile. However, their red chile is pretty decent (but oily, weird) and tasted good on my chicken enchiladas. My Mexicano co-worker took me here for lunch the other day and kept raving about it. But he was raving about the tacos al carbon- something I chose not to order. Perhaps I should have listened to his suggestion. The food does come out lightening fast so that makes this a pretty good quick lunch choice that isn't fast food. If you like greasy drunken Mexifood but for lunch this place would be it. I'll come back for the tacos.

I am only give it 3 stars because of the business practices. Although their pricing seems cheap they will shire get you on the small things. Taking a $2.50 burrito up to $3.50 without a flinch. I ended up paying $7.00 for a $2.50 burrito and a $3.20 burrito by adding cheese... They don't give you a break down, and don't question them cause the person taking the orders don't really understand english, nor can he explain. Now on the food. It's decent. I would say it's mexican mexican. But it's really good. Im gonna post a pic of the burrito. They don't use large tortillas, and don't even wrap them right. It was a pain to eat. Also I had the chorizo for me, and B just the potatoes. The Chorizo must have only been about 2 tables spoons. The pic may show it.. There were tons of potatoes, and a could maybe an half an egg scrambled. I don't mind potatoes, but man I was craving some Chorizo. Seems like they didn't season the potatoes or eggs. So anyways. So all in all it was great. But they need to catch up with the times. It's 2011 and people want to know what they are paying for, and see it broken down. Also to grow from their mistakes. at 9am, the place should be packed, but with one table with 2 people at it says "hey something isn't working." I say all this in hopes that they will read this and grow. We will defiantly be back though.

Yum! This place was great. The chips and salsa were fantastic! I'm not one to be super snobby and judgmental about Mexican food, but I do enjoy a good salsa. This was just hot enough with a really good flavor. My burrito was excellent. Again, just spicy enough. Huge portion, I could barely eat half. The prices are great, almost everything is less than $10 with lots of things for $5-7. The service I got was excellent! Quick and friendly, and our food was ready lightning-quick. The place definitely has a hole-in-the-wall feel--it's not fancy. it's cheap and good and great for lunch since it's so quick you can get back to work on time.

Sometimes it is best to just run into a place on accident. Sometimes it is best to ignore the Yelp rating. This applied to both. I was in the mood for Mexican but just not feeling most of the places I know about. I took a different route and happened to see "Mexican" next to the Post Office and figured I should check it out. One good test of Mexican is how good are the tacos. I went right for it and ordered Al Carbon. After living in Mexico for a while, I'm pretty picky about what is good. Although I felt these were a little overpriced initially, they were truly outstanding. They were some of the best street tacos I've had in a long time! It was a very pleasant surprise and very much looking to come back. Everyone who works here is super nice from greeting you as you come in and bidding farewell when you leave. The service was good and very quick, which is nice for lunch! Also, this place doesn't have a ton of decorations but it's clean and comfortable. I'm not sure how you would dock a place as being 'boring' when they excel at the most important things- food and service.

I have been coming to this restaurant since I moved to Denver many years ago. They used to be packed but now it seems like no matter what time you come during lunch, you'll be able to find a table. What makes it so great is anything you order during lunch will be at your table in less than 10 minutes. And this is every time. I have never waited longer. Makes it perfect when you want to leave the office and grab lunch but know you need to be back in a hurry.

Chiles rellenos were horrible! Bland wrapped in a tortilla fried and still cold. No good Mexican places in centennial so far and if you think this place is "amazing" you must not have ever had real Mexican food.

I went here for lunch with my wife and baby. The food was mediocre, worthy of 2.5 stars but lackluster service brought it down to a solid 2. My wife ordered chicken tacos, which come in the american hard taco shell with just cheese and lettuce. She said they were okay. I ordered the Amigos Special which was a combo plate. I asked if the burrito could be made with shredded beef, was told okay. The food came out super fast but I'm assuming because everything is pre-made. The ground beef taco must have been sitting around a while because the bottom of the shell fell out immediately when I picked it up. The quality of the taco was similar to what you would expect from a high school lunch room. The enchilada was not terrible, a little soggy but the red chili sauce was good and the burrito was not bad even though it wasn't how I ordered it. The burrito came out as a plain bean burrito, did not quibble as I had no time for a remake since server did not come back to check on us for quite some time. The tostada was just guacamole and lettuce, though the gaucamole was tasty. The check came and there was an extra 0.75 build into my combination plate price beyond the menu cost as well as a 1.75 charge for which I wasn't sure the origin. Inquired of the waitress, 0.75 was for cheese on the combo plate. I was never asked whether I wanted cheese or informed that there would be an extra charge. The 1.75 was for the extra basket of chips and salsa that my wife ate. We were never warned that there would be an extra charge. I guess maybe they weren't obligated but in light of the other issues it just served as further aggrevation. Again, I wasn't going to quibble over $2.50 but I won't be going back either.

So my dad talked this place up to me the other day and so I decided to go with him and my mom one afternoon for a work lunch. I can tell you that he was not all that enthused about the food just as much as I was. I would classify this Mexican food as good but hardly great. One good thing is the price and quantity for the price. I did not leave hungry just probably will not be back all that often maybe one a year type of a place if you work in the area.

Best mexican food I have EVER had. Ever. The service was so fast it was like we ordered our food and it was ready to go before we paid. I had a burrito and my gf had the chile rellenos. They were so amazing I can't even describe it. We were just driving through on our way back to Boston, MA and we stopped here on a recommendation from a friend. It was the best advice anyone ever gave me. If you are reading this review and wondering if you should go here, you should.

I had been on this place before, and already forgotten how fast they are. AMIGOS CAFE is a Mexican restaurant just south of Arapahoe Road, next to a post office on Greenwood Village. The place is quite simple, not much decoration however the service is fast and food very good I had beef and bean enchiladas with rice and taco, and a lot of cheese on top. The portion served is huge, more than enough for me and good flavor too. Spicy, just perfect for my taste. Very nice people too. The price, I would say cheap considering the portion and quality.

This is a great lunch spot tucked away in DTC. It's hiding in a strip mall right across from Arapahoe Lanes and next to a post office. The sign above simply says "Mexican Food" and it does not disappoint. I don't know of a lot of places in Denver that serves Chilaquiles but this place does and I guarantee that I will go back just for that. They also make some great tacos, but on this most recent visit I had a Relleno combination with lots of green chiles and queso. Their Rellenos are smaller and have a heavy batter instead of the egg batter. The chips are pretty nice yellow corn and their salsa is a little on the watery side, but that does not stop me from consuming it en masse. The biggest problem people have is instead trying to compete with me for access to the chips and salsa. There needs to be some sort of scheduling system in place. Or maybe synchronization, like synchronized swimming but for chips and salsa. This place is not exactly opulently decorated but is lightning fast and friendly as far as service goes, so even though it gets very busy around lunch hour I can't remember ever waiting for a table. Parking can be a little bit of a problem. Blame the post office.

Had lunch here the other day for the first time and was very disappointed. I'm not exaggerating when I say that Taco Bell is probably better. Everything was bland and had no discernible spices, which are the flagships of great Mexican food. I asked for hot sauce and was informed that the restaurant did not have ANY. Not that they were simply out, but that they did not carry any AT ALL. No Cholula...Tapatio...nothin'. HUH?? Also, the green chili was soupy, tasteless, and had a pinkish hue to it. What the heck?? To their credit, the service was lightening fast, but the food was somehow still tepid when it came out. There are plenty of other decent Mexican restaurants in the area. Don't waste your time and money here.

Holy cheeseyness! Cheese covered everything! Service was super fast, enchiladas were good, and price was cheap! Not a big fan of the tostada or the guacamole tostada--too blah.

We've been going to Amigo's Cafe for about 3 years, and have been YELPING happy with the service. Very reasonable, wide range of choices on the lunch menu, and quick service in this work-oriented location. You can get in and out in a FLASH. Located right next to the busy Post Office so it's easy to get errands done at lunchtime with my hubby or coworkers with a quick stop at Amigo's. Yesterday we were there and had a new waitress which wasn't terrific but I'm sure that will turn around. Service is usually great. Overall, a positive lunch experience. Recommend!

If I lived in the area, I would probably eat at Amigo's about once a month. It isn't the best thing in the world, and I would rather dispute their claim that it is authentic mexican food. But what it is is some really tasty americanized mexican food. I got a shredded beef burrito smothered in green chili sauce with beans and rice, and a shredded beef taco. The beef was REALLY good. The green chili sauce was ok, but not fantastic. Rice and beans were standard. My biggest complaints would be that the servers are really really inattentive - but this is because soon after they open the place is absolutely swamped. However, it does become a problem when they start messing up your order because of it. 2 soft drinks were added to our bill, but my brother and I had water. They were polite though and quickly took it off. One great thing I can say about the place is how fast the food comes out - if I had gotten up to take a piss as soon as our order was taken, the food probably would have been at the table by the time I got back. The fact that the chips and salsa are sitting out on every table does worry me a bit - but I didn't care for the salsa much anyway. The flavor was good, but it was extremely watery and ran off the chip with ease. One final complaint, despite the great food: a tablespoon of sour cream in a plastic cup is $1. Now I realize this is a restaurant and they have to make a profit, but jesus fucking christ. I can buy a 12 ounce container of sour cream for barely more than that. I think a quarter, for one spoonful of sour cream, would be more than enough to cover your cost of it and probably make 20 cents profit. Knock off the shit, amigos, and you could find yourself with a 5 star review.

I confess to a total lack of experience in selecting Mexican food which is obviously an eastern trait where we thought places like Chilis was authentic. Amigos Cafe is next to a post office, accross froma bowling alley and actually has real Mexican employees cooking and waiing on you with great speed. I enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros and the green chili was spicy not too pasty. My friends had Chile Renos with lots of tasty cheese. The salsa was flavorful, great service and it takes about 3-4 minutes for be served. My business friend is from New Mexico, and claims to be Mexico food expertise high level (he has a very large gut)-he thought Amigos was better than Little Anitas for flavor especially the green chile. For a lunch time treat less than $8 with tip, worth the visit-

Absolutely the worst cheese enchiladas I have ever had. When my enchilada plate arrived the cheese was melted but the under lying tortillas were Luke warm. I ask to have them heated again. Came back only moderately warmer. They were not cheese stuffed but instead tortillas on a plate with cheese on top, the gravy was't even warm. Won't venture in there again.

I love the food here. This is a hidden gem next to the Post Office. I have had lunch there several times. The Fajitas and Steak Ranchero are great. Steak Ranchero is huge so come with an appetite. The service is good too.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
